Day trips, weekend getaways or a week long country-hopping adventure with your best friend! These are some of the trips I've done with my closest friends while here in Europe and they've been the best so far! Here are some of the reasons why I've learned that these adventures with my girlfriends are the best ones: 1. Your friendship upgrades on a whole new levelYou go from saying "hi" and "bye" to then hanging out in group gatherings and then one thing leads to another and you're already kissing each other! Ok, that's not what I truly meant, but that's what eventually happened (see photo below). What I mean is that when you plan to spend days together or share nights in the same bed with your girlfriends, you will definitely grow closer and see your friends for who they are. You learn their character better and realize why these trips are so much fun. If there's that good vibe going on, get them on your next girls trip! You may have just been friends before but then you upgrade to much closer friends, some even best friends! 2. You will probably see someone nakedThis isn't my favorite one but this unexpectedly happened in a Hammam while we were in Morocco. A Hammam is much like a Turkish bath where Moroccans traditionally go to each week for their body cleanse. This seemed like it would make our trip to Morocco more of an authentic and cultural experience so we said "why not"?! Little did we know was that this would be a group cleanse, it's not done separately everywhere. When we arrived at Hammam de la Rose we were given a robe and a paper thong to change into. We still thought we would be separated for the cleanse. We were then escorted to a sauna like, dim lit room and were told to take our robes off to be watered down... Together. As if that didn't seem bad enough, we had to take the paper thong off anyway! We embarrassingly giggled while attempting to cover our girl parts but then realized that this is it! There is no hiding so might as well let it all out. After all, we all have the same thing! 3. Everyone will save moneyThis is clearly a given. Any group trip is expected to be split up whether it's a girls trip or a trip with a mix of friends. But there is a purpose behind saving during a girls trip. That one reason is so that we have more money left over for more wine. Well... at least that is my objective when saving on these trips, so it may be one of yours. ;) 4. You'll always have a drinking partner"One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, FLOOR!" Except, I don't drink tequila anymore, now it's all about Aperol Spritz and Hugo when i'm with the girls. This eventually did make me hit many floors in the dark alleys of Venice with this one gal of mine. I would have felt shame if I sat in that bar alone but in each girls trip, there will always be another chick to toast with and down those girly drinks. Saluti! 5. You learn the true definition of "hangry"If you're a dude and don't know what hangry means, you should avoid seeing it at all costs! Feed your lady friend immediately or your whole world will come crashing down. I am by no means happy when I am desperately hungry but I've also witnessed my girlfriends turn into this insane state of a beast. Can you imagine adventuring with 4 other girls while they're hangry? It's not fun BUT it is pretty funny to watch! Then we'll all laugh at that first bite into our pizza because we all finally turn back into normal human beings. O_O 6. You're never aloneAlthough I do support doing trips alone, there is also another great feeling of being with some of your best girlfriends during your trips. As liberating as it feels to travel alone, how fun is it to have your goofy friends tag along? They get to laugh at your corny inside jokes and reminisce on the good times you had together. If you're with the right girls, you'll never be alone and most importantly, you won't ever feel lonely. 7. We lift each other upWe all know that women are all emotional and hormonal beings. Life gets in the way sometimes and you can either talk about it or hold it in during your trip but with the ladies I travel with, they always make me feel better about what I am going through- whether I talk about it or not. Maybe you're stressed out about work, school, kids, family, friends, guys, money or just life itself. You're bound to have some fun and excitement with your girlfriends which can lead to those negative thoughts to subside. Well, at least until the trip is over. 8. You can just be yourselfI can be myself when I travel alone or with my husband as well but it's great to know that when I'm with my friends that there is no judgement passed. I'm not afraid to be loud, straight forward and most of the time disgusting! The closer I've gotten with my friends shows that they are just as comfortable around me as I am around them! 9. You make new girlfriends during the tripIn almost all of my girl trips, I have met someone new or I introduced someone new to my friends. Even when we don't intentionally meet new girls, we end up doing so! We sometimes see other women on their girls trip and just chime into their conversations. While other times we just end up being on a trip where friends invited more friends and it becomes a party! 10. Women empower each otherMy dear friend Lola once reminded me that "girls compete with each while women empower each other". That saying could not be anymore true. I've met some of the greatest women while traveling and if I already knew them before the trip, we definitely bonded more and strengthened our friendship in one way or another. No one competes for anything; not for attention, not for a new best friend, and definitely not for the looks. We share clothes, we exchange great ideas together and we are ALWAYS eating off of someone's plate... Not that food is a competition but we are foodies so it could be if we wanted to make it into one. Besides being foodies, I choose to surround myself with some great women and they've created the greatest experiences for me and for them too when we travel together.
